Mother Church of S. Giorgio
" The Chiesa Madre di San Giorgio, built between 1790 and 1825, stands on a site previously occupied by the other two churches, one built in 1195 and another in the 16th century.
The church has an imposing structure that rises above all other buildings of the historic centre of Locorotondo. It was built on a cross plan with a 16th century Neoclassical style facade with, in the tympan, a relief depiction of St. George, the dragon and the Saints St. Peter and Paul down below. At the four corners of the first order there are four statues of female figures. The dome, once covered with terracotta tiles, is 35 meters high.
Inside there are typical features of the Baroque and Renaissance styles, such as an interesting marble altar of 1764." *
